The Desert Road
Blipped this at 100kph on the Desert Road on the way to Lake Taupo for our holiday - it's Mount Ngauruhoe and is part of a collection of 3 active volcanoes situated right next to each other in a line on the North island's Central Plateau. It's 2,291 metres (7,520 feet) high although it doesn't really look it as the desert Road is already around 1,000 metres above sea level at this point.
Luckily it didn't erupt as we drove by.....!
