Our friend Toby was looking for elderflowers to make cordial so I picked some from the bush at our back gate. I've never looked properly at the flowers before but aren't they beautiful?

Also in the photo you can see pieces of snail shell. They've been left by the song thrush who uses the cobbles as an anvil to crack them open before he eats the snail...

The song of this thrush is one of the most beautiful sounds and worth being awake at 4am just to hear it.
