Today's the day ........................ for a rose

What could be better than this intoxicating combination of a sweetly scented rose - and the colour purple?

Strange then, that the Gods of the Rose World decided to give it the name Rhapsody in Blue.  It was Rose of the Year in 2003 when it first appeared. It had created a great deal of excitement around the world in rose trials because back then it was the closest that anyone had got to producing a blue rose. Apparently, this is the ultimate challenge for rose growers.

Personally, I would always settle for a purple rose ..................
