Colourful
And I thought moths were hard to ID. They are simple compared to the fungi I've been finding in the Belair NP recently. This colourful little specimen was almost invisible, nestled against a dry fallen log, and just pushing up from the dark earth.
My best guess is a Russula spp. I love its pink stem, and gills that look like false teeth. I am fairly sure it's not edible - and in any case it's illegal to take stuff from the National Park. It is really dry up there right now - I ought to be seeing sundews and all sorts of exciting stuff. It's set to rain at the weekend, so maybe, just maybe the flora will start to emerge.
