Barrow Bard

Bunny

Abandoned by the side of the road
Lying in a lay-by attracting glances from tired drivers
And casual passers-by. Once so much loved,
Pressed to soft and often tear-stained cheeks
And now forgotten on a patch of gravel.
Or, perhaps somewhere a child cries
'Where's my Bunny?' as he or she
Lies down to sleep. Will they forget
And after some weeks pass on
Their love elsewhere? Meanwhile
Bunny's in a lay-by, getting wet.
