Look! The Waverley!
Out of Portavadie after a leisurely start, for the short hop round the Kyles. With a decent breeze up the chuff too - past Blindman's Bay and on up to Tighnabruaich which looked a bit of a dull destination; we briefly considered anchoring in Caladh, but the Cap'n pressed on through the Burnt Isles and down to Port Bannatyne as the rain became torrential. Being a lad from a small island, and being bright enough to pass his 11+, Jimmie had been schooled at Rothesay - put into digs during the week at this very same Port Bannatyne. The pair of spinsters he had to stay with in first year only gave sheets of toilet paper on request, even to their own guests, and he had to share a double bed with another lad. I think he remembers it all a bit too keenly. Can I just say that he has plenty loo roll on his boat. And I have my own bunk.
Earlier the Waverley steamed past us, so here it is.
