Wind Stopper 3000
On hearing about the typoon currently headed for Korea and that his friend has to stay off school, close all the windows and ensure he had adequate water supplies in place, the older of my little ones set about designing the Wind Stopper 3000.
In case you can't read the design drawing very clearly, allow me to explain: the basic structure is a box, with a button to switch the machine on and a button to switch it off. At the rear of the machine is the fiery furnace which is really the heart of the thing and where the wind is sucked into. There also appears to be a lever at the front but the inventor was not willing to divulge what that was for.
He then set about making a prototype of the wind stopper, complete with fiery furnace and on/off buttons (no lever?). I wish I could show you a picture of this too but he has headed to bed with it beside him so he can travel to Korea in his sleep and suck the wind away.
On seeing the completed prototype I said 'woh, you've really built that exactly (I didn't mention the lever!) as per the plans', to which he nonchalantly replied 'yes well, that's what all good designers do'.
