Glad Midsommar!

Today is Midsommarafton, the most traditional Swedish holiday. We're at the summer house, which is great. For a number of reasons, no one is coming to celebrate with us this year, but we are having a great time anyway, celebrating with our friends in England.

First thing after the flag was up, we went walkies to pick lots of wild flowers in a basket. Mum sat at the outdoor table and made my flower wreath and I was in another chair. All of a sudden, a hare came running over the lawn, and I went after it of course. It somehow managed to get past the compost grids...

Anyway. When the wreath was done, we had a photo session and then we sent pictures to our friends. Lunch was a traditional small smörgåsbord with herring four ways, eggs, new potatoes with butter, dill and chives. There should have been smoked salmon too. I got some, even the tiniest piece of herring. Yum!

And guess what we just had for fika?! Strawberry cake with loads of whipped cream! Awesome!! I just LOVE Midsommar. I am not exactly wearing my wreath all the time, but still. We really should dance some. We don't have a big Midsommar pole, just this little one, but we really should dance around it, singing Small frogs. Mum?

We wish all our friends a Happy Midsommar!
