Ennerdale Water
The hotel we stayed in last night was full with cyclists who were taking in part in a Coast To Coast ride (Seascale to Whitby) today and they were up and about around 4:30 for their breakfast. Needless to say that they were not very quiet - going in and out of rooms banging doors and shouting up and down the corridor…so we had a rude awakening…
After our breakfast I dropped Mrs madwill off at Calder Bridge where she was teaching a workshop to the quilting group there. Then I headed up to Ennerdale Water and walked around about a quarter of it and back again - about 5 miles in total - but I stopped frequently to take photos so it took nearly 4 hours!. Got one or two reasonable shots. For this one I waited about twenty minutes for the light arrive on the side of the hills (Crag Fell / Anglers Crag) and on the foreground together - my bonus was the little wave breaking just in front of the boulder in the water and a nice ‘V’ shape cloud above the hill. Nice to be able to wait for the light and not have a dog start nattering about his walk being interrupted.
It was quite windy and on one part of the lake there were waves breaking over the side. Heavy cloud and strong winds most of the day - but no rain whilst I was out walking.
