Eid Mubarak!
A year on from the Brexit vote, I'm still as upset about it as I was then.
And I'm still upset about the election result too. Sigh.
But, it's not all gloom!
I’m encouraged by the way that support for Jeremy Corbyn still seems to be growing (even though his Remain credentials could've been better!) and by the way communities are coming together to look after each other in the face of terror, negligence and greed - wherever it comes from and at whomever it's aimed.
I loved Corbyn’s speech to the Glastonbury crowd this weekend - and his quotation from Shelley’s ‘The Masque of Anarchy’:
“Rise like Lions after slumber
In unvanquishable number—
Shake your chains to earth like dew
Which in sleep had fallen on you—
Ye are many—they are few.”
It reminded me that the poem was also once quoted by Scritti Politti in their song ‘Lions After Slumber’ www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBU2uQET3tU
Here's to all of us! X
