Blackheath Blippers' Challenge 5 - The New Ivanhoe
There are two pubs in Blackheath, the only mountain town other than Katoomba to have more than one.
Most of the locals go to this one, The New Ivanhoe, though as Hobbs has pointed out, there's not much new. It's warm, welcoming and comfortable, so what more could you ask for?
It's also the go to place for many local activities, from trivial pursuit evenings to scrabble afternoons.
I have previously blipped my favourite part of the pub, but this painting runs a close second. It sits above the fireplace, and I love the way it's surrounded by pamphlets and brochures exhorting the tourists to sample the local delights.
It was painted by local artist, John Caldwell, and is unusual in that he is renowned for his landscape paintings.
Cymbeline, Gemax and Hobbs are up.
