Seven gigs in three days - from village halls to whisky distilleries and a free dram at the start of every gig. It could only be the Islay Jazz Festival.

It swept from Bossa Nova to Blues, Scandinavian piano trio, brassy standards by two Scots and an Irishman, a totally foot stomping gig from Neil Cowley ending with a boogie on the dance floor to a bit of James Brown and a lunchtime Nina Simone mellow-out
