The Old Forge (Wednesday 21st June 2017)

As it was another day when temperatures exceeded 33 degrees I didn't stray far from home and struggled again to get anything much done. It was the Summer Solstice so I thought this sun-coloured Solaire L Horizon (Bidens Ferulifolia) would be appropriate. Some Lanai Candy Cane as seen in the previous day's blip puts in another appearance, alongside some Red Valerian (Centranthus Ruber) growing through the gravel..

Don Gibson wrote this country classic and released it in 1955, but many others have recorded it since, including Patsy Cline (released posthumously), Faron Young (1956) and the Everly Brothers (1963).
I dare say Emmylou knew all these and probably many others when she performed it on this day in 1975 and made it her own. It was released on the album Elite Hotel.
