I am a part time carpenter
Today, I repapered two shoujis. A shouji is a sliding screen of a Japanese style house. To tell the truth, I don't like to do it. But discolored and teard paper pushed me to repaper ASAP!
In my childfood, I was scolded by my mother to make a hole in a shoji by my index finger.
Many family made it a custom to repaper shojis in th new year eve, we, children were admitted to make holes as we like. this is one of nostalgic stories for Jananese.
Now, Japanese are very busy, we are reluctant to do custom that our parents and grand parents did. It is regrettable.
