Mr Hawk or Mr Puuurrrrfect cat?
Quite a lot of macabre goings on in the garden recently. This detached leg belonged to a sparrow, at least I think it was a sparrow. The remaining birds are very nervous. From the condition of the rest of the bird, ie NONE, I think it may well have been the Sparrowhawk.
Here's where I have a contradiction in my doings. I knock Magpies on the head yet admire the Sparrowhawk for their efficiency as killers and their choice of victims is limited to what they need. They are not malicious killers, just very good at what they do.
So far this week I have counted five separate hedgehogs in the garden at night, filling up on dropped bird food and in the process leaving their own droppings. Charming. There are two young, the larger of which will be nabbed and moved to start a new colony in Truro where a lady has a nice warm hog-house for his over-wintering hibernation. Some clown has daubed one of the hogs with blue paint, either that or somebody has painted a gate blue and numpty has scraped beneath the "wet paint' sign.
In other news I'm 60 today. I maintain it's not the year it's the mileage. I feel a bit like an elderly Volvo. A bit blunt at the front but able to go on for ever. :-))
Mwah mwah to all silver tops.
