Back to Seattle

The 3 of us came back to Seattle this afternoon…just a few more card games on the ferry…this is "Gin"  I just learned it's quite different from "gin Rummy"!
We had a lovely relaxed time.  The consensus was that the book The Turner House, by Angela Flournoy which was the chosen book for all of “Seattle Reads” was not all that interesting for any of us… a family saga about a huge Black family that moved north in the great migration.   Lots of family issues, and big city issues, and addiction.  Well written, but maybe we are looking for something different in this troubled time.   

Off to the island tomorrow on another ferry —our first ride on the new one (might have to blip that too) The old Queen of Nanaimo is still out of service since last thursday with a mechanical problem with the prop. .  And it’s a big weekend in Canada. 


My 96 yo neighbor who broke her hip last thursday, died peacefully yesterday.  A blessing, really.   I’m sorry she wasn't at home but at least she didn't spend much time bedridden in a strange place.   I will miss her greatly and seeing her sitting in the window,.   The extra was taken a few weeks ago.  I'll write about her on a future blip.
