Castanea
One of my favourite things about autumn is sweet chestnuts. Apart from being delicious both raw and cooked they are pretty good for you. They have about 180 calories per 100 grams of edible parts, which is much lower than walnuts, almonds and other nuts. They also contain no cholesterol, very little fat (mostly unsaturated) and no gluten. Furthermore, they are the only nuts that contain vitamin C. What's not to like? :)
I had a nice walk over Iron Hill with the dogs this morning, did a Sainsbury's run and a few chores at home, and then had a lovely lunch with my friend Gazweasel who I hadn't seen for two months! I am pleased to report that in real life his garden office is even more impressive than it looks in photos. And the colours look fantastic. I am very jealous.
