Keeping the maritime theme...
I have to admit that I bought this whisky mainly because I liked the taste but was greatly influenced by the fact it is from a 'secret' distillery on Islay and it has a Puffer on the label. The lady in the shop in Inveraray told me to pronounce it Ee-lukh and that it means it's 'the man from Islay'. Maybe Blipper Snapper can correct that if I misheard.
The Marketing spin...
'The Ileach is a young and peaty single malt from an unnamed Islay distillery.
Bottled by Highlands & Islands Whisky Co. Ltd, ‘the man from Islay’ is extremely popular in Sweden, where it’s the second best-selling single malt'.
Nose: Earthy smoky peat and salty ocean Breeze
Palate: Pungent peat smoke, chewy sweet malt, pepper, tar and a touch of iodine
Finish: Long and warming. Smoky ashes of the peat fire
In other news... It's 9c here, lashing down and we've just lit the fire.
