Shelter

The Holyhead breakwater was completed in 1856 having taken ten years to build. Seven million tons of stone were used. It is 1.4 miles long and when finished was the longest in Europe.

The stone was taken from Holyhead Mountain. The huge quarry now forms a large country park and is one of our favourite places on Anglesey.
