Gently down the stream

Ruffling the barley

Today was just a quick scamper out to the barley fields.  The wind was making the seedheads sway.  What a beautiful looking crop it is, and quite golden though probably not as plumped up as it should be because of the lack of rain.

The reason for saving energy today is because tomorrow is Hat Fair, Winchester's annual weekend of street theatre.  The festival is in something like its 43rd year, the oldest in the country.  I have pics of it for many of those years: my kids watching Punch & Judy with their mouths open, the time a giant inflatable dragon took over the High Street, Charlie & Haggis fire-juggling on uni-cycles, the year the Tour de France swept through, then finally my colleague and I being asked to do its publicity.

And now, of course, I go as a blipper.  So that's the next three days taken care of!

I know it's a bit early to be saying it, but I do wish you a fab weekend as well, and a happy evening tonight  xx
