And the potter

The pots of yesterday would have been made on a wheel like this.  The potter stands and puts a stick into a hole in the wheel and rotates it, faster and faster then he sits and centers his clay and makes his pot.  The wheel is actually sitting on a post in the floor which with modern help probably has wheel bearings included.  After removing the pot with some wire the pot is dried and then fired in an open air kiln outside the building. I am challenging myself to draw one thing every day for a while... Just in case you wonder - the beads on the wood behind the potter are his rosary. Muslims and Buddhists also use beads but I just happen to know this man!
