Mother & Child

I went down to the harbour again this morning to see how the gull chicks I am following had fared after yesterday wild and windy weather as they are right at the top of a very high rocky pinnacle totally exposed to the wind and weather. There now appears only to be only the one chick. However, it was pleasing to note that several of the other birds have now produced chicks. The nestling appears to have put on quite a bit of weight though there is little sign as yet of he/she develop flying feathers as opposed to the fluffy ones they are born with.

Back at home we have been observing in the paddock behind us the a mother deer with a young fawn which is now about four weeks old. The mother goes off for long periods foraging, leaving the young one nestled in the long grasses. It is only recently that we have been able to see the fawn as it has been totally hidden in the long grasses. Getting decent shots of the mother and child is a bit hit and miss because the grasses are often obscuring the view. These shots were taken from 4k video.
