Something Fishy's Going On ...
A bigger fishy thing.
There have been a few close shaves at work, when people exiting the kitchen with a tray of hot drinks have almost collided with someone walking along the hallway. So last week this fish-eye mirror was installed opposite the kitchen door to allow a clear view of anyone approaching. I love the effect of fish eye lenses, and if/when I can manage to get a DSLR I really want to treat myself to one. When I'd noticed the mirror last Thursday I'd thought that a good fish eye photo might be possible using that mirror - at no expense! Admittedly the kitchen and hallway aren't the most inspirational of scenery, but I couldn't resist the opportunity. So I had a go at some shots (but ended up blipping the glorious sunset/clouds/sunrays pic that I took on the way home instead). It's a long, long hallway and anyone at the other end seeing me with my camera must have thought I'd totally lost my marbles, hehe! Since I didn't blip any of those shots on Friday, I decided to do some today.
Here's the result (which necessitated another SP of sorts - I AM getting brave! lol) and I'm rather impressed by it - so I'm now researching the cost of fish-eye mirrors to use with my compact camera ..... lol
Update on yesterday: My neighbours arrived home late last night, saw my note and had the blockage between the septic tank and the service chamber cleared today. So I have a properly clearing drain at last - wooohooo!
Unfortunately though fate hadn't finished with me - 6 miles into my journey to work I had a flat tyre! I was just about to call the AA when a knight in shining armour arrived - a guy from the next village who my husband had known was passing, recognised me and pulled over. He kindly changed the wheel/tyre for me. However the spare is one of these narrow 'space-savers' which meant a limit of 50mph and getting a repair or new one put on a.s.a.p. - but I'd realised that fortunately it's the same tyre I purchased close to where I work at the end of January, and has a 1 year insurance on it to cover punctures. At lunchtime I took it to the place in question- the tyre's had it, but at least I get a free replacement. Phew. They didn't have one of those in stock, so I had to drive home again and shall have to drive back tomorrow, on the 50 mph, space-saving thing, and they'll fit it for me lunchtime. Aaaaargh!
