Apollo (butterfly)
Today was a mountain day on our Slovakia tour, and at ca. 600 meters we had this gorgeous Apollo. It's a mountain butterfly, hard to see, and mostly present over 1000 meters--the prettiest butterfly in Europe according to some of our group--excited to see it (it was certainly a major goal of the trip). It never landed, and our guide netted it and gently held it with his expert hand. The grey band on the left at the edge is translucent.
I'm on time with this blip for the first time in the last few days, following the power outage we expereinced (for more see 27/6). I'll leave it here--time is still short; I may post an extra or two tomorrow.
