We called in at Whitley Bay for a leg stretch and fantastic fish and chips from the Whitley Whaler which we ate by the seafront. Spanish City, immortalised by Mark Knopfler in Tunnel of Love is just in shot and undergoing extensive national lottery funded restoration. Next stop the ferry to Amsterdam.
