Mystery Landscape?

Is this some strange, otherworldly landscape? Is there some life form hidden away in the crevasses and craters? Possibly!

When I built my house, this was a natural bush block mostly covered with native vegetation. There was a fair bit of leptospermum (tea tree) but the RFS said this was highly combustible so I had to get rid of most of it (being a bush fire prone area next to the national park). This is a gnarled, woody tea tree root dug out of the ground close to ten years ago now. I kept it as a sample of nature's sculpture and thought it would make an interesting subject to play around with for my mini focus on nature.
