looking for Bees

Today we went on a twitch in search of a bird I have wanted to see for years. The bird news sites had told us that up to 7 European Bee-Eaters had been seen in Nottinghamshire. The RSPB have set up a watch point to help protect these rare visitors as they normally  breed in southern Europe.
Upon arrival we paid our car parking fee and then followed the steady flow of people. We found a viewing point and managed to see 4 sat in a tree a new bird for me so very happy. I then moved around the quarry to the main viewing area to get some distant record shots. Not the best of shots but the best possible at the distance a few more shots can be seen HERE including a couple taken on my phone through a scope.
