Rosh Hashanah
Shana Tova.
A time of family gatherings and food. A time to come together and renew our spiritual connections. A time to remember traditions (Our chopped liver as well as our bread is decorated to represent the circle of life). A time to hear the blowing of the shofar (ram's horn).
An exert from Chief Rabbi Warren Goldstein's interview on Chai FM's Radio broadcast:
The shofar is our spiritual alarm clock, waking us to examine our deeds. We develop certain habits; we get locked into a certain way of thinking and a mode of behaviour. Rosh Hashanah is a time to step out of the routine and the habits we have developed, to take stock of our lives and assess where we are heading. The shofar calls upon us to take responsibility for our actions, both good and bad, and to chart a path of change, improvement and repentance.
May we all be written and sealed in the Book of Life and be blessed with a good year filled with G-d's abundant blessings.
