My topsy-turvy life

Davie Weir

Everton 2 Newcastle 2
Wandering down the Gwladys Street before the match I bumped into David Weir -not the Paralympian as my Dad thought I meant- our former centre back and captain. So feeling like a little kid I asked if I could get a picture.
Davie played 269 times for the Blues and bagged himself 10 goals in the process. He's an absolute legend and even played in the Champions' League games in 2005...yep that's right Everton in the Champions' League!

As for the game, I have absolutely no idea how we didn't get all 3 points. We were easily the better team in the 1st half and should really have been more than 1-0 up. 2nd half Newcastle were much better and Demba Ba was a right handful, but having a goal ruled out for offside -wrongly apparently- and another for not crossing the line -it did- made for a very frustrating night. Maybe we could have done with Davie in defence.

I know it's only coincidence but after meeting Davie I popped into the club shop to see his autobiography staring at me and then got into the ground and the first thing I saw was a replay of his goal against Newcastle in 2005 on the tv...spooky.
