View from the office

It's that statue again, Yuri Gagarin, just outside the British Council office in London.

Gagarin was the first man in space in 1961, but died after crashing his MiG-15 in 1968.

He became an international celebrity after his spaceflight, but the attention of female fans threatened his marriage to Valentina. It was rumoured (according to Wikipedia) that his wife once caught him in a hotel room with another woman. Gagarin supposedly jumped out of the window and hit his face on a kerbstone, which resulted in a deep cut above his left eye.
