Hello!
The weather this morning was good enough for a very technical event- ringing the osprey!
She is now six weeks old, not big enough to fling herself from the nest but big enough to wear her ring and be safe while her parents are away.
Our very experienced tree climber Mike roped himself up and ascended the tree, with the adult Ospreys alarming overhead. He quickly lowered the young bird to the ground for weighing and checking over, and she came in at an amazing 2kg!
Then straight back into the nest with only a few ruffled feathers, and the team rapidly withdrew.
Around half an hour later the adults returned with a nice fat trout and the family were happily reunited.
The youngster now wears blue N1, and we will hope that we see her on another nest in the future.
