Port Erin

The bay at Port Erin was wet in the sea and out today, as the rain lashed down. A superb kipper sandwich for lunch at the most agreeable Cosy Nook Cafe with its "in door seating."

Earlier in the day, we drove past the start/finish line of the Isle of Man TT race at the same time as a group of owners of "super cars."

We spent a couple of hours in Castletown, visiting Castle Rushen. On my last visit, in the 1960s, I watched Freddie and the Dreamers filming a piece for Top of the Pops on this very spot.

Later we called-in at the Manx Museum and Art Gallery where my late Great Aunt used to work. There, the archivist found for us a document prepared by my Dad in the 1940s recording the numbers and weight of fish he caught in Garwick Bay, from a boat called "Tess" - named after Tess of the D'Urbervilles.
