Life

It has been another good day today. I walked north, heading towards the suburb of Ballymun and en route was struck by how full of life this city is - from parks to gardens, it seems as though the daily mix of sunshine and showers has a big upside, creating a lush and fertile environment for plants to grow. I could have posted a dozen pictures this evening of landscapes or individual plants and flowers. The word that kept coming to mind was 'life' and the picture of the day is a great example of that, being the product not only of nature but also of human hands.

I started off the day with breakfast in Brother Kevin's and eventually got talking to the man sitting opposite me, who had travelled from south-eastern Europe and lived in Ireland for a year. He was very up on what was happening with politics in the UK, telling me that he thought Brexit meant Great Britain would become 'Little Britain'. I'm not sure whether he was deliberately referencing the TV comedy of that name, but it was definitely the line of the day.

Instead of rain today it has been rather warm, or better, rather muggy. I've come home to discover my face is all red, with a touch of the sun - it just shows how powerful the sun's rays can be, even from behind the clouds. But despite that, I've come home with a definite spring in my step, and feeling very blessed to be getting this opportunity. As the pilgrimage goes on, I'm finding it easier to start conversations with people - people who, in most cases, I would never encounter in my usual existence. While revelling in creation has been great, enjoying the conversations has been better. And I'm very much experiencing God's presence in both.
