Great Western Road
As I was growing up trips by car to Glasgow were always a big adventure. The A8 was not the motorway it now is. Car heaters were weak as were the headlights and I recall trips in thick fog.
Alexandra Parade was always the sign that we had arrived. We would then turn south to visit the relatives, so it was only many years later that I got to know the GWR and its straight drive to the west.
It has some magnificent tenement blocks and churches as this illustrates. On our way to a meeting in Clydebank we had a moment to stop and view.
