At Fairhaven

I haven't seen this before and don't know how long it has been there.

I need to find out more about it. I also need to go back and take another photograph in better conditions, and from a different angle.

Update:

This is a full sized model of the plane bought by the residents of Lytham and St Annes in 1941. The residents raised £6,500 to buy the Spitfire, but it was shot down the following year.

This memorial cost £40,000. The money was raised through a fundraising campaign by the Lytham St Annes Spitfire Display Team.
