Training Dome

This is a training dome which was part of RAF Langham , one of many World War 2 airfields in the county which have long since gone.

The interpretation board said that there were 40 in the country and this is only one of 6 remaining. It seems the gunners used this as a training area, images were screened on the wall.

I'd love to look inside it and imagine the experience the trainees went through. I'm sure even with as much realistic training as possible it was nothing compared to the real thing.

Quite fitting to stumble across this as Battle of Britain day was so recent!

I think they open it up to the public occasionally so I must do some research to find out when the next open day is.
