Egg-laying
Having had a day of recovery after completing Chatsworth it was time to start a new project: stonewort surveys at Orton Pit. I went over on Saturday morning for an exploratory reconnoitre and to photograph the ponds while the sun was shining. During my ramble I came across a pond with many pairs of ruddy darters, all egg-laying. These are much more difficult to photograph than migrant hawkers, as they rarely stay still. This was my best effort, though the complicated background is a bit annoying.
