Test Run!

In just under two weeks' time, we shall be hosting a reunion of my former doctoral students and their families at our home. We try to do that at least once a year, and the parties have always been great fun. We have had a range of students encompassing the years 1965 to 2006! Many have now retired and several are very distinguished.

Let's hope that the weather is fine. There could be, I suppose, up to 50 people including spouses and offspring and sundry people that we've invited. We have managed to provide food from a barbecue every year so far.

Clearly, we needed to practice barbecue making and lighting and cooking just one more time ;=)

Here are the results of quite slow cooking: two nice pieces of lamb and some pork, marinaded with garlic, and herbs from the garden. While we were sipping a few strong daiquiris (this is an essential part of the practice), the meat became infused with the smoke. It's probably carcinogenic, but the food was definitely delicious.

Keep an eye open for 22 September: I'll try to take a photograph for BlipFoto if my hand is steady enough!
