On its last legs

The attempt to mend the dryer part of the washer-dryer was a complete success. It now dries like a dream. A dry dream. Well done me!

Unfortunately, the washer-dryer that was previously just a washer is now just a dryer. It seems to be an either/or sort of machine. Presumably, there was a window from being mended to being turned on during which it was both a washer and a dryer.

That's the last kitchen appliance I buy from Shrodingers.
