A break in filming . . .

Great excitement today as the BBC Beechgrove gardening team came to the village to film three gardens, including ours.  Jim, Carole and George and ten crew spent the whole day here, all morning in our garden, and it was such a great occasion.  I loved every minute of it!  Fascinating to see the camera men working, to see all the behind the scenes planning of shots etc.

The filming was fun and really enjoyable, I wasn't sure what to expect, but the production team of Gwyneth and Evelyn were lovely and because they'd been up before, it made it a lot easier and I was a lot more relaxed than I thought I would be!

Jim McColl was the perfect interviewer, we had a good chat first and he made me feel very much at ease before the actual filming began.  He and Ollie bonded well, two old chaps together!  He was full of stories and he had a way of making you feel immediately at ease.  He was interesting and knowledgeable and I could have chatted with him for ages.  In fact we did, as he sat out on the bench at the front when it was all over, see extra.

Everyone was very relaxed and friendly, lots of laughing and they made themselves at home in the kitchen and endless cups of coffee appeared, together with Carole's birthday cake from last night.  Never had so many folk wandering through the house!  If I had known beforehand that they would have been coming in, I would have been frantically cleaning and tidying up, but as it was a surprise they had to take it as it was and it was fine!  And they washed all the cups and tidied up afterwards!   Such a perfect sunny day too, they were all saying it felt as if they were on holiday!

Super to get the chance to chat to Carole and George too, even though they weren't involved in the piece about our garden they were interested in it and said kind things about the planting. Great to see Jim and George taking their own photos of the garden too. That meant a lot!

A really special day, one I won't forget!
