This is the bhut jolokia, aka Ghost Pepper. Coming in at 1,041,427 scovilles, it was certified as the hottest chili pepper on the planet in the Guinness Book of World Records in 2007.
I found this specimen in the cool house of the Wintergarden in the Auckland Domain.,
