When Did It Stop Working?

Even with hindsight
I can’t state a date.
All I know is:
it went wrong. Right
from the start
there were problems.
Wires were crossed.
Connections got lost.
The faults were all there
waiting to be found
and, oh yes!, we found them.
It was a painful process:
like having your innards removed.
But, you have to accept:
there's never a lifetime guarantee.
I expect, if asked,
she’d say the same as me.
