I went to bed last night knowing that Andy Murray had taken the first set from Novak Djokovic. I'm glad that I don't have any sports chancels on my TV now I would have been tempted to stay up far too late 7 watch the rest of the match. I was astounded to wake this morning & hear that he'd won. I used to think Andy Murray was a bit of a miserable git, but seeing him pour his heart out after losing Wimbledon changed my opinion of him. I was glad he won Gold in the Olympics, but even more glad that he has his first grand slam under his belt.

With so many great sporting achievements this year, I'm glad I don't have to compile the short list for the Sports Personality of the Year.
