Interestingly, the river you see here is about 15 feet lower than flood level on Boxing Day, 2015.

To the right of the bridge (from this viewpoint, but out of the frame; I'm actually stood behind their flooded cellars) is one of York's best restaurants, "The Blue Bicycle". Nearly two years on, it is still shut due to flood damage.
