While gardening today I noticed several different types of spiders but it was fascinating to watch a poor hoverfly trying to escape the clutches of a garden spider as it struggled to get out of the web.  The spider covered it in silky thread and after being satisfying that the fly was dead and well wrapped up the spider left it for a while.  Later there was no sign of either.
