Gibside Walled Garden

We did a lovely long walk around the Gibside Estate, which is close to where we live.  This photo was taken in the walled garden.  The extra is of what used to be the Orangery.

Gibside is situated in the Derwent Valley which is about 9 miles from Newcastle.  It was previously owned by the Bowes-Lyon family (relatives of the Queen Mother) and is now a National Trust property.

Although the main house is now a shell it has a lovely old chapel (build between 1760 and 1812) and extensive grounds.
