Birds do it, beetles do it...
As well as the cinnabar moth caterpillars I blipped the other day, the ragwort is also covered in these soldier beetles at the moment. I don't know what they're doing, but they're all at it ;) Apparently their common name derives from their colouring which is reminiscent of 18th and 19th century military uniforms. They are otherwise known as Cantharidae and I think the pair pictured are Rhagonycha fulva.
