Always game

We regularly walk through this field behind Silverado, past an old mattress frame, a rusty, metal folding chair, and now a growing pile of empty sport drink bottles. Maybe someone else comes out here and enjoys the view. I said, "Here, sit in this chair and I'll take your picture," and she did. I had to help her up and down, though, because of the uneven ground and her stiff knee.

My mom always gives her grim prognosis: "Someday this place will be full of houses," and she could be right. There's a lot of development coming to Cordata, unfortunately, but some of the wetlands in this field will probably be preserved.
