Upstairs Downstairs

G and I visited Felbrigg Hall this afternoon to get out in the sun and take some photos. There were lovely flowers in the walled garden and interesting interiors. Whilst I had some better shots than this, I loved the story behind this photo. The books are part of the normal large library in stately homes, with bookcases and books covering every wall. What I hadn't seen before is the little cabinet of books in the centre of the lower shelf which the guide told us was the servants library. She said it would include a few novels and also books like 'how to be a good servant'. I bet those books were read more than the big library ones (well except one!).
