Solvang in smoke

Sky is coloured due to smoke from brush fires.

Today we headed south towards Los Angeles and it wasn't long before the sky turned yellowy brown from smoke. We had planned to stop at the Danish themed town of Solvang. The town is only a few miles from the 19,000-acre Alamo fire burning in northern Santa Barbara.

As we parked the car ash from the fire could be seen in the air and landing on the car. After a quick pastry and coffee we continued on our way. This summer most of the Western US is suffering from severe heat and brush fires. The plumes of smoke could be seen for miles and there was a constant stream of fire trucks heading north to battle the blaze.
